Thanks VL, Wim,
I'm not really losing it..! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I did some tests outdoors in bright daylight this morning. I checked the 12-24, 85mm, and 50mm. All the same as yesterday evening, so I stopped checking at that point...confirmed I need about -17 or -18 on all the lenses.
I guess what I need to do is send the body and maybe a couple of lenses to Nikon... not sure there's much point sending all the lenses, as it now seems most likely it's the body itself which is back-focusing.
I didn't check for this before I got the 12-24mm. I may look back through some pics as I've an idea I might have attributed some earlier out of focus shots to my technique, but maybe this has been an issue for a while, rather than having been caused by dropping the camera. Or maybe not.. and I probably won't find out..!
Meanwhile, I may (fingers crossed..) have an okay or even good copy of the 12-24mm. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
First few pics here... and this one:

Anyway, thanks for all the help and input with this. I'll let you know how it goes with Nikon
Ian
