Canon EOS 7d vs 60D
#1
Hello all, first post on the forum!

I know this dilemma has been long discussed, but I've been searching the forum without success.

After a few years without DSLR (my last DSLR was a Canon EOS 30D), I'm going to buy a new one. My mind was on an EOS 60D, but I have a really good offer on an EOS 7D. It's only 300€ more expensive than 60D (no scam, it's a very well known store here where I live). But those 300€ will be some kind of an extra unexpected monetary effort

It really worth those extra 300€? I'm not talking only about construction, which is obvious, but more on the image quality or even ergonomy

Basically...Do differences between 60D and 7D worth 300€?

To me, the extra was worth it as I rely on the (much) better AF system on the 7D. The Micro-adjust feature is also pretty important to me as I have a few lenses which are just slightly off and controlling this helps get sharp images. I am not interested in the articulated screen of the 60D which is the only major advantage I can see with the 60D (other than price).

Cheers

the sensor is essentially the same, so that shouldn't be of concern

differences: AF system, construction, pentaprism, 100% view, faster frame rate.

Hi mellamoa,

To be honest, I was in the same dilemma <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> After a long break from (film) SLR, I spend some time to choose a dSLR that suits me.

I think that, at the end of the day, a comparison between models like these will come down to how you would like to use your camera. In my own subjective view, the higher price of 7D translates to just the faster frame rate due to the extra Digic 4 CPU, because I can live without such a large number of focus points and AF micro adjustment.

Because I am after manual focus, apart from the crucial element - interchangeable focus screen, the snug body contour slightly different from 7D and the ergonomical button layout upheld 60D over 7D in my situation.
