Zeiss 35mm f1.4 review
#1
Some have asked for the Zeiss review here on Photozone, because of the Samyang 35mm f1.4 having been tested. For those, here is the test of the Zeiss on lenstip for now.

Interesting, because inthe review they do compare the figures of the other 35mm f1,4 lenses.

The main slip up of the Zeiss seems to be unusually high LoCA.

And to me it looks like its main plus is the smoother bokeh than its rivals.

Funny, how not even 2 years ago Canon was basically alone with its excellent 35mm f1.4 L, and now Nikon, Samyang, Zeiss and Sony all having a very good 35mm lens with f1.4 in their line ups.

It is strange in the resolution figure: the FF edge resolution is better than the APS-C edge resolution at f1.4. Is this caused by the different resolution of the camera sensor?

The Lenstip test of the Zeiss shows its APS-C edge resolution to be little better than the full-frame edge resolution up to f4. Their recent tests of the Samyang and Nikon 35's don't do this, so it looks like a characteristic of the Zeiss-- very sharp in a smallish disc in the centre, but falling off to a fairly even but lower resolution over most of the picture on full frame.

Due to the great review here on the Zeiss lens, I was able to pick up a nice 2/50 MP for my 5D2.

Please do a review on the 1.4/35 soon. I'm dying to know if you recommend that lens or not. I don't see any 35mm that is recommended by this site.

Thank you very much for your hard work.

We have currently no supplier for this lens and it's a bit too exotic to purchase.

I'm sure some nice people in the EU can send you a copy, yes?

I'm dying to know what you guys think about this new lens. I only purchased the lens that your site recommends and cannot be happier.

Thank you very much.

Unfortunately we haven't found anyone, yet. If you happen to know someone who owns the lens, please try to convince him to loan it to us <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
