I have been waiting patiently for the Zeiss for months now, and this review has certainly given me some thought.



It might sound a bit absurd to some, but unless the new Zeiss performs drastically better than its recent 35/2.0 cousin, they can't really offer much more than the Samyang except an excellent metal casing, aperture coupling, and the prestige of the brand.



I am a devoted user of 'classic' lenses from Zeiss etc., but in this case I will not spend 1600 euros on a lens that might well perform worse than Samyang's 500 euro offering.
