According to [url="http://www.photoscala.de/Artikel/Telezoom-EF-S-4-5655-250-mm-IS-II-von-Canon"]photoscala.de[/url] the lens has been optically "optimized", however Canon does not give any detailed information about these optimizations.

The lens includes an upgraded CPU that provides slightly faster AF and improved IS efficiency.

Also, the external coating of the lens tube is said to be improved, providing slightly better grip.
