Regarding #1, let me clarify. On FF I can get quality optics for much less money. then on crop
1. Ultra wide: Samyang 14/2.8 for £250. Simply unbeatable.
2. All around wide angle: Canon 35/2 for £220, again nearest competitive for crop sigma 30/1.4 is much more expensive
3. Standard prime: Canon 50/1.8, no comment.
4. Etc...
And of course DOF control! How could I have forgotten.
Regarding #2. 500D IS noisy. I can see noise starting from ISO200, on ISO400 it gets very bad, on ISO800 too bad, on ISO1600 unusable. All reviewers confirm this
