Transstandard for D700

Brightcolours, could you please recommend me one macro lens that doesn’t change the focal length between 1:1 and Infinity?

If such macro lens doesn’t exist, should I stop taking any macros?

Well it's macro only at 1:1 or more... so when focused at anything less than 1:1 a "macro lens" isn't a macro anymore. So you can use any macro-capable lens ;D

Can we maybe turn away from personal attacks and get back to topic?

Miro's point was about focus breathing, which, as a result of IF mechanisms, is pretty common among current macro lenses.

Am I really the only one who got that?

Still, just as BC said, it comes down to personal preferences. If focus breathing bothers someone, it's a valid point not to buy a certain lens. Personally, I really don't mind, since the magnification of the lens close up (where image widening is worst) is still more than enough for my kind of usage.

On the other hand (to get back to the inital topic) the poor bokeh of the Sigma 24-70 HSM would always make me choose the Nikkor 24-70 instead (or, in my case, the Nikkor 28-70). Sorry, I just can't stand poor bokeh <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

WOW <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> Had I known that a simple question about a lense choice for a D700 would cause such stirrups among the batavian memebers of this Forum, I would not have asked it. But go at it guys!

For those of you who might still be interested, I bought the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 (on a Dutch site <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> )and for 2 reasons;

- Another forum that I frequent has made a comparison and find the IQ equally as good for both lenses, maybe with a slight piqué advantage to the Nikon, but also finds the Sigma nicer to work with (weight and size)and the price/quality ratio definitely in favor of Sigma. Build quality again is found to be equal.

- A professional photographer friend of mine has used one on that body for some time and has only good things to say!

When time comes to buy the 70-200 my mind is totally made up in favour of Nikon, because of its clearly superior IQ.

So, there you go! Thanks for your innput!
