Nice review but just something to add on this lens...
The 30mm f/2.8 DT Macro actually has full-time manual focus override like an SSM lens. While it won't support a camera's DMF menu feature (or AF/MF button) because of the SAM motor, you CAN override the focus manually at any time. There's apparently a clutch in there somewhere.
Shocking, I know, but it behaves just like the Tamron 60mm f/2 Macro and not like the other SAM lenses.
