I think it's still very good between 20-40mm on the 5DII, as Klaus' recent test indicated. 17-20 are OK if you crop the corners. But I think the colour and the balance of contrast/ microcontrast are the best of all my lenses on the 5DII and I also have the 35 f1.4L. 300 f4L IS, 400 f5.6L and the 70-200 f4L IS. I find the 5DII more contrasty than my older 40D or 5D so find the combination of the (very contrasty) 35 f1.4L and the 5DII to be too harsh and biting. Definitely not to be used for portraits.
