Yeah, that's the most annoying thing about the so called "cooperation" in the mFT market.
If by some miracle panasonic releases a ~40mm f1.8 pancake, GF1 with these 3 pancakes (20mm f1.7 and 14mm f2.5) would be a perfect ultra-light travel kit. Well, in principal this should have been posted by the "News Generator" but Olympus is obviously unable to maintain their RSS news feeds (the News Generator is based on a mash up of manufacturer RSS feeds).

The 2nd photo has a problem with the optics (how is that called, when a light area starts to "shine" into neighbouring areas?), look at the finger tips/nails for instance.
Both of them are severely hampered by very strong/bad chromatic noise reduction, it is not so much JPEG artifacts. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

I though that was due to the fact that Panasonic uses optical IS and Olympus uses in-body IS?

Panasonic have a 45/2.8. This is is not particularly large or utterly slow. Until something faster gets released this can fill the void. Also when traveling macro capabilities can come in handy.

Is this "News Generator" paying for photozone in some way? If not I would kill it. I always thought it was a special feature of this very place, that forum members reported the news in a fashion they liked it. Sometimes just sharing a link, sometimes commenting on it as well.
If the New Generator is needed to pay for photozone, I can ignore it (which is what I do, after having reported it several times as spam and never seen any action/reply on my reports).

There's no financial benefit for Photozone. These are just the official press releases by the primary manufacturers. No sales offers, no trojans, no fraud. Just the "press releases". So what's the problem ? That's exactly what the headline of the "News" forum is saying after all. :-)
Here's the techical background:
I checked the manufacturer sites for RSS feeds. These feeds are filtered for DSLR/EVIL related content and mashed up to a single newsfeed which covers all manufacturers but Sigma, Tamron, Tokina - these 3 offer no RSS news feeds. The "News Generator" is a feature in the forum engine - it translates RSS feeds to forum messages. It's no external supplier or whatever.
Alternatively I could also post a message here pointing to the press release of a new product but why should I do that if this RSS feed does just that for me.
The value-add is pretty obvious - it saves (my) time.
There's of course the downside that you sometimes get those colorful, nonsense "news" messages where the manufacturers try to promote something. I don't consider this to be disaster though.

Not sure. Compared with pancakes, it is big, it has a DOF equivalent f/5.6 which is pretty rubbish for portraits and worst of all, it's incredibly overpriced. Some voigtlander m-mount pancakes might fit the bill, pity they're manual focusing only <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

thanks for the explanation. As I said, I can ignore the news generator, but as you have seen, the things the news generator misses still get reported by members. Member reports typically carry more discussion (and pz-live) than the dire press releases. When I first saw this, I thought someone had hijacked an account to get free advertisement ...
