According to Panasonic they improved the noise performance by 3db compared to the GH1.

And the GH1 sensor is basically as good as a 12mp APS-C sensor (unlike the 12mp sensor used in the G1/2, E-P1/P2).

ISO 12800 will stretch things, of course, but it will not be worse than on the EOS 7D and the likes.

Pricing in Germany (MSRP inc. 19% tax):

body only: 900EUR

body w/14-42: 1000EUR

body w/14-140: 1550EUR

Hum. I wonder if they also improved the EVF (which was rather good on the gh1). Looks interesting though a bit pricey. Also what lenses can handle the pixel density ?

3 db is 1 stop, BTW.

That's the key question (lenses).

Mmm, according to dpreview GH1's DR is 1 stop behind Nikon D5000 in jpegs, and 2 stops behind in RAW. Noise wise it looks similar, just GH1 is applying some in-camera noise reduction to RAW files, which looks like a cheating to me Undecided

Quite interesting, because Nikon is cheating also <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />.

The 14-45 seems good enough to handle it. The 20mm too (at least center frame). The 7-14 doesn't look too bad either. All of these, according to DPR, go beyond nyquist frequency of G1 in the center area of the frame wide open or half a stop closed.
