This is a lens I have owned for several months, and all round it seems like one of the best Zeiss offerings. In field usage, my experiences concur with the results of the PZ tests. It's an extremely reliable and consistent performer.
I was a little surprised at the slightly lower rating given to the 85/1.4 because in the field it is an awesome performer. My absolute favorite lens for street photography and portraits. The softness up to f1.8 is actually an advantage for me in portrait situations because of the inherent 'harshness' of many high-end moderns lenses and DSLRs. It provides flattering results without the need for processing.
