Nex kit lenses?
#1
Still waiting on Sony Nex kit lenses to be reviewed.
#2
We'll start with the NEX reviews once the 18-200mm OSS is available.

I wonder how they will do in the market, actually. I was at a large store yesterday, and some people did pick them up, but put them back on the shelves just as quickly. The big lens with small body does look a little strange to other people than just myself it seems <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />.

Maybe it is just a matter of getting used to, as it seems that this is the way forward for smaller cameras with exchangeable lenses, which are capable of video as well.

Kind regards, Wim
Gear: Canon EOS R with 3 primes and 2 zooms, 4 EF-R adapters, Canon EOS 5 (analog), 9 Canon EF primes, a lone Canon EF zoom, 2 extenders, 2 converters, tubes; Olympus OM-D 1 Mk II & Pen F with 12 primes, 6 zooms, and 3 Metabones EF-MFT adapters ....

They will do fine just as as all the micro systems at the moment.

I was quite surprised to notice that the Samsung NX10 is actually the best selling of the bunch here in Germany (amazon.de).

The NX10 _is_ a fine camera. There'll be some reviews during the next few weeks.

I held a Sony nex5 in some saturn store and was lucky to find it with a working battery and its 18-55.

I thought the screen was indeed very nice but wasnt sure about its color accuracy (neon lighting didnt help there) but I suppose it is quite good. I found it was very zippy and responsive on the AF side and that it possibly had a shorter shutter lag than my E-P1, which BTW is now a quite fast enough camera after latest Firmware updates.

BUT... my fears about its reportedly horrid interface were more than confirmed : it´s actually worse than I could imagine. I just abandoned after a few button presses thinking "bugger, no will to dig deeper in this".

Also saw the nex3 with the 16mm lens on... that is a more harmonious looking package IMHO.It was very tempting at 500€ but I´m very very disappointed by early lenses reports and that the body has this UI...

will sell great though, one just has to see 15 meters large ad boards in cities and the panorama sweep mode in action.

Yes, they seem to sell very well. The double lens kit is still not available locally.

Just something that I observed that might be useful when doing the reviews... while the Nex cameras themselves don't have a NR "off" option (only "weak" and "auto"), the Sony Image Data Converter SR RAW conversion software has a NR off option. It brings back massive amounts of detail even in noisy shots.

I'm not sure how genuine this "off" claim is but the images looked more like Canon RAW files (with NR off), instead of like Nikon RAW files which have unusually low chroma noise for files from digital sensors.

Another interesting option that I noticed was "highlight color distortion correction". I noticed the highlights looked more like the Canon RAW highlights when this was turned on. Not sure what my recommendation on this is for a review.

As of now we haven't really decided whether to do a NEX-5 review.
