lack at a specific focal length possible?
#1
Hi,

I've an "optical" question. During my tests of the Canon 15-85 I found it extremely unsharp at 35 mm when it was more openend than 11. I made several shots with 1/200 s, so the problem should not be me or my lots of cappuchinos...

Here on photozone the lens was tested at 24 mm continuing with 50 mm. At this focal lenths I have no problems at all with the sharpness.

Is it possible, that a lens has a lack at a specific focal length and not just at 15 or 85 mm? And will it be a general problem of this lens?

I just did a quick test on my sample. At least in center region, wide open, there isn't any significant difference I can see between 15, 24, 35, 50, 85mm.

Hi,

thank you for testing. I tried with a second lens and had the same experience. At 35 mm on long distance the lens is visible unsharp.

My test was only at very close distance. I'll retry it later at longer distance in case that makes a difference.
