Interesting read.

Here are image samples taken with the lens on APS-C (EOS 50D):

Nice but I'm curious about the photozone review of this lens <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Does anybody have anything on that?

It's on my shopping list for this month.

I'm slightly wondering why people are interested in this lens anyway. It's way, WAY too expensive to be considered an alternative to a N70-200II or C70-200II.

And please no arguments regarding the close focus non-issue of the Nikkor.

Well, I don't think so. List prices are of course way out of proportion, but street prices seem to settle quite a bit lower. Lowest I could find so far is 1349 for the Sigma, so roughly 600 EUR below Canon and Nikon offerings.

That is probably enough money for many to seriously consider the Sigma instead.

Which is present in the Sigma, too <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> So, yes, that's not a valid argument.

For me that is a valid argument and issue for (against) both the Sigma OS and the Nikon VR II <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />.

Whether it is an issue depends on the photographer.. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

I agree that the €600 savings may be very worthwhile.
