Lens for Canon 7D
#11
guys you are transforming a lens enquiry into a photography philosophy debate

Yes you can have good pics with any camera

the Diana was the worst camera ever made, yet many people held expositions made with Diana cameras.

Yes you can use manual focus, you can even not get a camera and with a small box and some film make a pinhole camera, but that's not what we are looking for.

autofocus acuracy is a must if you are shooting wildlife or sports, it is pointless to shoot birds with a camera lacking a peformant autofocus tracking.

Let's get back on our feet, I experienced it while shooting fashion at large aperture, when autofocus misses, go tell them it's the camera that missed her best shot, and listen to what they will say to you

Nothing wrong with a bit of philosophical debate - it helps spice things up. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

@GTW, I haven't tried photographing that sort of "bird" yet, so maybe my opinion on best kit would change if I did <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

I guess I Should also have said, that although people often ask what is "best", what they really want is "good enough". Certainly FF offers advantages over APS-C, but the sensor is only one part, and the other features may be more important to help you do what you want to do. I'm continuously learning, and got a 5D1 to play with shallow(er) DoF, at which point I found out I didn't really need it. What I can achieve with a fast prime on APS-C is "good enough" for now.

I haven't done the sums, but I suspect my camera kit value is now higher than my car value... but I do need a car!
