Pentax review wishlist
#1
So this is my first post here on the photozone forums although I've been a reader for quite sometime now. Any way here is a list of pentax lenses that i still would like to see reviewed. Hopefully this is where i am supposed to post this.

1) Pentax 50 f1.7 (considered to be one of the best bargains out there)

2) Pentax 50 f2.8 (considered to be pentax's sharpest lens)

3) Pentax 18-55 II or 18-55 WR (would allow pentax users to see if it is worth upgrading)

4) Pentax 50 f2 (dirt cheap lens and uktra easy to find)
#2
There is a review for 18-55WR (on K-5). I guess for 50'ies we will have to wait for the new 50mm f1,8.

The next review will be about the 100WR.

Sorry, no legacy lens testing here.

The A50 f/2 was apparently an aperture crippled version of the A50 f/1.7 so they should be the same, but they are legacy lenses so it's moot.

On one hand, I would be curious to see just how good it is. I've never seen a formal test of it anywhere. On the other hand, if it's as good as it's supposed to be then a good test would drive used prices up...and I still need to acquire one cheaply... <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Given the legacy lenses are seen as one of the big advantages of Pentax, I would also love to see these reviewed on the K5 for example. My manual €20 50 1.7 is always going to be a bargain, but how would it fare against, say the 40mm 2.8, 35mm 2.4 or even the 50mm 1.4 (old itself I know). I would love to see such a retrospective.

When even the Pentax user sites don't do this, in reality with all the new lenses from all manufacturers - it's never going to happen here. I can dream though.

DXO has done test for DFA 50mm f2,8 Macro; and photodo.com has MTF data for F 50mm f2,8 Macro. While DXO gave quite a low score to DFA, photodo.com rated F as one of the best lenses (4.6). A 50 f2,8 Macro was tested at erphotoreview.com, with good center and poor borders. On latter site some famous legacy lenses were tested also.

Macro lenses tend to be an obvious base for benchmarking. The 50/2.8 is just another example for this.
