Nikon Z50 APS-C camera to be announced soon
#1
20mp APS-C, 11FPS, "pivoted LCD", Z mount.

With that wide a mount, this will be a bigger APS-C mirrorless camera.

A sort of ML D500 ........ it's difficult to know where this APSc body is going to fit in ........ and with what Z lenses?

The rumours say a 16-55mm and a 50-250mm APS-C lenses will also be announced.

It sort of sounds like a less capable, bigger M6 mk II (32mp, 14 fps, swivel LCD) instead. Lets wait and see?

the M 6 II has 33MP Wink

But the 14f/s - are they in AF-S or AF-C? And there's no swivel LCD, only tilt (selfie mode). So, if the Z 50 features a real tilt/swivel joint for the LCD (like the D5xxx or the G10/11 had), I'll take a closer look at it. I'm just afraid, they want to throw in a beginner's MILC (hence the 5 in the number) into the market.

Lenses? Available Z lenses or adapted F-DX, what's the big diff if there are not enough FX glass around or not? Do you really expect the mirrorless lenses to be cheap, dave? They will be more costly than the old ones, given the current tendencies.

LOL, you are so right. Cute goof-up there, BC (mixing things up with the 90D)

And the 14 FPS is with continuos AF and AE.

Hardly inspiring ........ two kit lenses .... even though they will probably be very good no doubt! ......

Just tell me: Which of the just released Z-lenses deserves the label "inspiring"? I'm just curious... The 85 shows a rather nervous background behaviour, so if used for portraits, the background should be far away. Looking at the melting creaminess of the Canon 85/1.2, I know which deserves "inspiring" Wink

I just now looked at dpreview's sample images from that Nikkor Z 85mm f1.8 S, and I have not seen that nervous background? Way better than the AF-S 85mm f1.8 G.

Maybe mine is a lemon, but...

Left (blue mark) is the Sigma.

It probably has to do with that the images you took are/appear to be taken at very close focus distance, and the dpreview images are at more "normal" focus distances? I have lenses that do the opposite (very smooth bokeh at close up distances, nervous bokeh at more "normal" focus distances). For portrait lenses the "normal" distance bokeh is obviously more important.

In fact, the "original" Nikkor 85mm f1.8 is one of those lenses that I have. Smooth bokeh at close up stuff, and not that smooth at normal distances.

I don't have a not smooth "normal" distance sample available right now.

Wait, here is a googled one (on MFT of all things):
