Photo year 2016
#1
Did You have a good Photo year 2016?

As usual I took too many pictures and among them some (but more than usual) keepers, but I had most fun with these bumblebees (and bees). Not perfect but I find it quite interesting.

I like the 1st image a lot, although to my taste it is a bit underexposed. Very nice.

Reminds me to start a Flickr, Instagram or Tumblr account of some sorts. I had a pretty good year but did not really share most of the images on the web, apart from the ones on my workplace's website.

I can play... Since 2016 was the first full year of pro work for me in a while (before that, I was doing the editing job and mostly shot on vacations, or casually around the city), I've been shooting A LOT, and this year's archive went past 100GB - even after the obligatory culling. And that's despite the fact that I've chosen to switch to 12MP for all but the vacation shots - that's apparently the rudiment of "vacation means publication" mentality that I had during my newspaper years, when every vacation yielded up to 6 full page photo materials. Alas, the paper is gone...

Anyhoo... The first half of the year.

I had a great year of photography, all my best shots get posted on Flickr.

A good year of lens acquisition.......... the AF-S 500 F4D being the icing on the cake this summer, plus got my recent my order in for the new Tamron G2 (soon to arrive)

Getting Nikon D500 is as if I finally found the right camera, fast AF with a bottomless buffer, and all the bells and whistles, truly a game changer.

For the moment it's winter complete with it's hunting season, (not cold though yet) you have to be careful when out in the countryside photographing birds and wildlife, guns going off everywhere......many people are injured in shooting incidents.......roll on the spring!

I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a happy New year's  eve and a happy New year.......and good imaging!

I don't want to sound negative or spoil the thread, but it has been the year I took the least amount of photographs since I started to pursue photography back in 1999. My health declined a lot last year, so I rarely come outside of the house and if I do it just for a brief moment. So, sadly I did not have good photogenic 2016. And here in the busy low-lands, taking pictures from the car, seldom yields anything worth showing or keeping.

I don't know what 2017 will bring, but one thing I really hope is that I finally get a website (again). Then at least I can show my older work, which would be great. Maybe I can find a student would can help me out.

Kind regards,

Reinier

Hii Goran,

Bumble bee's and bee's are always an interested toptic. I like photo 2 the best, because it is different than all the other photo's out there. I immidiately thought what are they doing there are the sneaking around? Of course I know what they are looking for, but the thought just sprang into my mind. Just like some one is peeking over a fence and you wonder where are they looking at.

Kind regards,

Reinier

2016 was a gear acquisition year by excellence, however it wasn't before the end of the year I started having some kind of satisfaction with my work, before it was mostly weddings and events, the brides was very happy with the pictures but I wasn't finding any fullfillment

here are some of my latest shots all of them except one were taken in december on two occasions one was a photography outing, the other one a simple walk by the beach

I'll go with the traditional sunsets with their lovely colours....... Nice with the boats!

The first shot has nice waves and light going on in it, I'd still darken the arched rock in the center though!
