Not as bad as I had anticipated from Klaus's earlier comments; in fact, something like the EF 24-105/4 L II looked to have performed much worse on the 5DSR IIRC. Nonetheless, it's not a lens I would knowingly purchase with my own money. I'm ready to overlook the 24-85's flaws because I only paid $90 for it (even though it didn't even have a front cap), but $400 seems excessive. It's not common practice, as Klaus has pointed out, to purchase pricey FF bodies and then slap any old trash on them (not even "the cheapest" in this case) in the hopes that "FF magic" will solve all problems.
