Promising app for Sony remote control
#1
Monitor+ is an iPhone / Android app that offers remote control to Sony cameras:

While available features are sort of "jeopardized" in function of the model, it is intended to control all the main settings of the camera and also offers some extra tools, some typical of the videographers world (such as spectra).
For me the $19 of the professional version are worth while (the free version only offers basic features, the annoying thing is that USB tethering mode is only available in the pro version and WiFi mode doesn't work with half models, including all the a6** series). Surely it's much more interesting that the crappy app made by Sony.

Given that Monitor+ is very young (the iPhone app started the past April) I think in a short time it will be very good.

Sony Alpha Rumors shared a video review of the application:

For one thing, there are more universal remote apps on the market today than maybe ever before. All of them promise the moon and the stars when it comes to capabilities but only a handful of them are able to meet, let alone exceed those expectations. Smart Remote Control essentially turns your smartphone or tablet into a spare remote (or a primary remote, if you don’t already have a remote commander). The application allows you to stream a live feed from your camera to your mobile device, allowing you to remain remote from the camera.
