I am curious how this will compare with Fuji's 16-80mm F4.0 Zoom?

This anouncement is great news.
The Tamron has very good sharpness across the frame at all apertures and focal lengths. It's at its weakest at the long end, although it's still good wide-open. Optically, its only weakness is bokeh: highlights show very noticeable onion rings. It's also a very large lens, much larger than the Fuji 16-80 f4 and 2cm longer than the Fuji 16-55 f2.8. Here is a summary of the Tamron vs the Fuji 16-80 f4:
https://dustinabbott.net/2021/01/tamron-...70-review/ The lens I'm really waiting for for Fuji, is the "new" Sigma 18-50 f2.8. Tiny, fast, and with a still useful focal range and nice rendering (better bokeh than the Tamron for sure).

Well, the potential degree of bokeh blur is certainly better than on the Fujinon standard zoom lenses (all of them).
I'll certainly test it in Fuji mount once it's available.
