Getting Canon 24-70f2.8 MK one
#1
Anyone has an idea about the price of Canon 24-70f2.8 in mint condition on the used market ?

I will be paying difference over my Tokina 16-28 I bought but never used.

Is this lens any superior to my 24-105 f4 I will sell ?

You find the 16-28mm f2.8 too bulky and heavy, so you will find the 24-70nn f2.8 similar?

The Tamron 24-70 looks like a better lens anyway. But if you have a 24-105, why bother?

I am selling the 24-10

I am selling the 24-105 at 24mm it has black corners very easily visible (vignetting) distortions are on the extreme side, besides I didn't like the colors, I can easily tell which picture was taken with this lens just from the colors

It is fine to replace the 24-105mm f4 when you do not like it less contrasty optics. Just be aware of the lens you want to replace it with, if you dislike one 950 grams brick (Tokina 16-28mm f2.8), you probably won't enjoy other 950 gram bricks either (Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L USM). From what I have seen, the 24-70mm f2.8 L USM has nicer colours, and personally I would like that lens.

In the past I was very happy With Sigma 24-70 on 30D, so I know this focal length is fine. I wouldn't mind a brick I would use often versus a brick I never used .

however my main question is still unanswered, how much is the cost of mint condition 24-105 on the used market ?

You 1st asked about the 24-70mm f2.8 price, now about the 24-105mm f4 price? No idea about the prices....

toni-A, just have a look on e-Bay to find out the costs. Of course, in Lebanon the situation might be very different. I would also say, a Sigma 24-105/4 Art is worth a closer look.  Wink

Certainly ... in the range of 24-70mm at f/2.8 ...

for all other things, I personally would happily take the

24-105.

In the end, it depends on your needs. I have a bunch of primes,

and whenever I need a large aperture, I take one of them ...

and the range in combination with IS is what makes me prefer

the 24-105 over my Tamron 28-75/2.8 (admitted, this is not the

EF 24-70/2.8L).

The only lens I eventually ponder about getting it is Tamrons

24-70/2.8 VC.

just my 2cts ... Rainer

We're kinda forgetting that the 24-105 has just been upgraded to version two. Maybe that one is also worth considering once the price goes down a lil' bit...
