Depends, I'd say. For dead objects I made good experiences with the Nikkor 40 mm which is even shorter, but in nature I fully agree with you and would say, 200 mm are not wasted on a macro. Okay, the 100-400 gets pretty close, but is no 1:1 macro.

Like many people here, I'm eager to read any review. Though I have a few lenses that I'd like to see reviewed the most because they're on my personal radar (here's the hint: both are made by a company whose name starts with T, and both have a 5 in their focal length number). But I'm not pushing it. Smile
