Four day trip to Dubai what lenses to take
#1
Going this week for  a four day vacation to Dubai and Abou Dhabi, I don't want to carry a lot of lenses so which ones should leave home.

Canon 5D plus 24-105f4L IS would do the job I think however I am hesitating on taking my Tokina 16-28f2.8 and I think I will need an ultrawide there. A tokina is a 1kg lens a no no for travel

Canon 750D plus 10-18 would be good for the wide end I still have choice for standard zoom:

EFS 18-55 IS STM, EFS 17-55 f2.8 IS, Canon 24-105f4L

will also surely get Canon 50f1.4 for portraits

thanks in advance for your help

Seems like the 750D + 10-18mm IS STM and the EF 24-105mm f4 is the best choice. You won't miss the 19-23mm gap at all, but you would miss the 56-105mm probably. Add the 50mm for portraits as you say, and you have your travel kit.

I personally would take the 5D and the 24-105 ... it does the job.

50/1.4  - it is a Zen thing to see what you can get away with, with a single prime lens.  Ok I am cheating right now, for serious picture taking I use and swap between two prime lenses: Summilux 25/1.4 and M.Zuiko 45/1.8.  Still a lightweight kit-bag.  Ideal for travel.

well I went with BC advice and took 10-18 and 24-105, man I am missing my 17-55....

BTW I  saw Sigma 50-100f1.8 ART was ready to get it till I discovered it is not stabilized...

Last day, too hazy almost all shots taken indoors, missing my 17-55, f4 is not enough.

a lesson I learned the hard way:

Outdoor tempertature: 40 degrees, indoor temperature anywhere here 16 to 20 degrees, so as you understood: water condensation just like shooting in snow

Well had I brought 17-55 f2.8 like last time, I wouldn't have needed anything else.

I recon I am tempted getting a fast prime. 20 or 24 mmf1.4 or reuse my 16_28 on full frame
