next PZ lens test report: Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di USD VC
#1
Not the greatest but certainly an interesting 600mm lens on a budget

I thought it would be better than that in the center

Well, for those about to zoom... we salute you. Even if we take into account the "5DSR Penalty" (like we could calculate with the only "dual-scope" review so far, that of the Sigma 20/1.4), the 600mm setting isn't going to be very pretty even on the 5D Mark II. Better, but still no prizes.

Hi Klaus,

This paragraph ...

Let's be realistic - most of the users will probably never carry a tripod so

an image stabilizer is a must-have in this lens class. Tamron's VC is pretty

good till about 500mm but it struggles to keep a steady image beyond.

Both Sigma as well as Canon have an edge here.

... seems to compare the Tamron 150-600 to the Sigma 150-600 (which

seem reasonable) and an unnamed Canonlens ... which, if I may ask.

Probably the 100-400 II?

Well, but how?

Since even Klaus claims the Tamrons stabilisation to be ok up to 500mm ...

how can then the 100-400 have an edge on the remaining 100mms?

Canon and Sigma have an edge on IS implementations. Not specifically at 600mm.

  A good review;

But;

I'm  disappointed here, this lens is not aimed at a 50Mps sensor, I waited a year for this review,  even the very best of the very best of lenses struggle at the edges here!

 The sensor is designed for landscape images with the top quality lenses and I mean top quality!

 The D750 or the Canon 6D should have been the tested companion with this lens!

 Real world images can be seen here from this lens;

May be that is what you read.

I read, that the Tamron has a good VC up to 500mm and struggles beyond ,,,

and that Canon and Sigma ar better in this regard.

The context with the Tamron struggling beyond 500mm ist clearly there.

Let me put that into perspective here, the VC functions with a certain jerkyness at 600mm, but it works fine at 1/250 sec. or less! But don't use it at shutter speeds faster than that, it just blurs the image!
