Klaus wrote something like that in the latest Sony reviews here, and now at LensRentals the latest 50mm f/1.8 showed a very good copy-to-copy consistency:

Not just that, the lens design seems to be done better too, finally.

Despite some contradictory reports from out there I have yet to experience a centering defect with their FE lenses.
