I guess it was inevitable at some point the 3rd party lens manufacturers will start seriously going after mirrorless cameras. My guess was that they would wait until most players have revealed their cards (everyone except Canon?), so they can make a generic lens as compatible with all the systems as possible, particularly on the lower price end. Of course that doesn't mean they wont make high end lenses optimised for each system. So I'd give this announcement a rating of "no real surprise".
