New lens will have nano USM like the 18-135mm USM, it will have 17 elements in 12 groups (old lens 15 elements in 10 groups), 710 grams (old lens 630 grams), MFD 1.2 meters (old lens 1.5 meters).

The EF-M 18-150mm f3.5-6.3 IS STM will have an MFD on 45cm, 17 elements in 13 groups of which 1 UD element and 2 aspherical elements, will weigh 300 grams, and is 86.5mm long. 

 

For comparison, the EF-M 18-55mm f3..5-5.6 IS STM weights 210 grams and is 61mm long.

I wonder if the 70-300 is going to do what Canon has always been afraid to do: cannibalize the sales... in this case of the other 70-300 options (of which they have two at the time - the L and the DO). I mean, it's supposed to be a solid update that can't be expected to suck quite as much in the longer part of the range as the old non-L non-DO (I tried it and was left unimpressed; the Tamron VC just blew it out of the water).
