The FE 50mm f/1.8 surely doesn't cost more than 50$ in production and the development effort was low. The profit margins for the Sonnar and Planar are probably perverse. Honestly I don't think that Sony is making much money with their cameras but they are ripping you apart on the lens side. But now the mark II cameras are not cheap either (3500 euros for the a7r2) |
