Consolidation ahead?
#5
IMHO the problem with mirrorless cameras gaining market share is the price. They are cheaper to manufacture, but are more expensive than DSLRs. For example PanaOly are selling at $600 entry, $800 advance and $1000 to $1200 top of the line. The consumer really needs to be pressed on size/weight advantage to purchase them otherwise there are other choices-DSLRs. The share instantly part is more of hype to me, but it matters a lot at the moment. I purchased  E-PL2 used for $220, but ended up selling it. I can't see myself buying such camera for its original price above $500. Panasonic GX1 kit for $450 was a bargain,  but originally was introduced near the $800 mark.
