My gut feeling behind this is that APS-C Alpha mount will stay alive through adapted NEX only. This was an obvious direction ever since they released the mirror adapter. Putting aside handling specific issues, is a NEX + the mirror adapter that much different from an APS-C SLT? Just make a NEX body with more SLT like ergonommics, bundle it with the mirror adapter, and you have your SLT. With the benefit you can also remove the adapter and fit E-mount lenses.
This could also become the "Pro" NEX, perhaps a NEX 9?
Because this solution doesn't need to be the smallest size, I wonder if they can put back in body stabilisation?
