So cool ...

Sound like a clear sign of G.A.S (gear acquiring syndrome) to me  ;-)

Well, private photography is about fun regardless of whether you use a Ricoh Theta S or an EOS 5Dr.

I'm pretty sure that I will have more fun with the Theta. ;-)

Looks fun to me!

I just found out that you can do the same thing with the Google Camera in Android ... if you got the patience to take 32 pictures.

Spherical 360° in single shot is the main thing of this lovely toy, also taking a movie. Pretty much a street-view device in pocket size.

But. I was thinking about a use or a project for me, and I failed... What are you doing with it? Car drives, birthday party and picnic documentation?

You can always ask how often you do something but things that are in my mind:

- taking a picture of the night sky during camping (with a lightly illuminated tent)

- Sydney opera interior

- The skyscrapers in Sydney CBD are probably also cool.

- There's a submarine in the Maritime museum which is probably also interesting within.

- Standing in the desert in the middle of nowhere

At the end of the day we are talking about the same applications as for a fisheye except that you got a 360 degree view rather than "just" 180.

But as it seems, it is not exactly a "cheap" gimmik.

I wasn't able to find a quote for the new "s" model ..

the older ones are between 400e and 300e (and

below if you buy used) ... so the new "s" type

will likely be in the same ballpark.

Very, very limited uses. But who cares, it is just a very geeky, fun toy. And who doesn't like those? It is much more likable than those lythro toys for sure!

Here is another geeky cool toy:

Just a shame it has shitty sensors, like those cheap GoPro knockoffs.

If only one could mix the two!

I just ordered one at Amazon - not for me, for a colleague and bird photographer. It was something like 270€?

I see the possible ideas, but to look at them, you're bound to a computer, if you want to take advantage of the interactive zoom and pan.

It's good, it's not a cheap gimmick - I don't want more plastic waste Big Grin
