.....well i can't speak for klaus, but let me just say, in regard to this lens for example, that on a low contrast grey day, at 24mm and f/4, the rez produced from a distant scenic shot whilst apparently acceptable where there was good contrast between objects in the scene became very poor where, at roughly the same distance away, there was very little contrast between objects (foliage for example became quite ill-defined and smeary) - the picture noticeably improved at f/5.6, but was still somewhat weak - RPP did a better job in resolving such detail than another converter - close shots however with somewhat defined objects seemed to be reasonably good by comparison
i hadn't noticed such an obvious difference with my previous similar range lenses (say the cz's) - so low contrast grey days are to be recommended for checking lenses :-) - but there are other things still to resolve here too…. i would actually not like to be a lens tester, there is a lot to check, resolve and understand (distant fine detail and contrast being one such)….
......and thinking of everything to say at once, rather than thinking of something more and having to come back and add it later..... personal brain fade in my case.....
