EOS 60D ant Windows 7 64bit
#1
Hi,

i struggle a bit getting my 60D running with windows 7 64bit. the installation of the driver always fails on both my computers. when I boot with linux mint it works perfectly.

has anyone of you experienced the same problem and can offer a possible solution for this problem?

You do not need a driver for any camera? Do you maybe mean the codec to be able to view RAW images in windows itself?

If so, you probably are talking about the Microsoft Camera Codec pack, and how exactly does the installation "fail"? I am pretty sure you do not install the Microsoft Camera Codec pack on Linux, so in that sense it (installing the "driver") can not work perfectly?

A bit confused about what you mean... sorry <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

well, when I connect the camera via USB with my PC, in the system tray appears a window to inform me, that the camera driver software gets installed. after a short time, this message changes into an error message. I am not able to access my camera by connecting it via USB, I always have to get my pictures with a card reader which is a bit annoying. Also, remote shooting does not work, but this is a lesser problem for me.

I hope, I made myself more clear this time <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Have you downloaded the lastest version of EOS Utility, to see if that brings any relief?

yes, I have. I'm going to try it later with my friends laptop with Windows Vista 32bit but I start thinking, it is a problem between my camera and Windows 7 64bit. It's definitly no hardware issue since the camera works without problems on my PC when I boot int Lunix Mint.

the problem described there sounds quite familiar, so obviously I am not the only one with this issue.

I will wait for another reply from canon support (other than contact your dealer) and try this. maybe one of the windows patches conflicts with the driver and I can sort out which one messes up everything.

thank you!

In the meantime, you could also get a cheap card reader somewhere. That would avoid any driver issues completely.

well the canon user manual and EOS utility writes with bold letter that you have to install EOS sw before pluging any cammera on such way you override the default windos driver.

the software was installed before i plugged in the camera the first time. the camera also works like a charm when i plug it in an a laptop with Vista 32bit without any Canon software. in my opinion, there is a problem with windows 7 64bit because every other operating system works fine.

unfortunately i don't remember if my camera was working before, maybe a patch screwed something up.
