Fuji X-Pro1 & Zeiss G 21mm f/2.8
#1
I guess this means that the Fuji sensor doesn't like symmetrical wide-angles as well ...

The results are pretty terrible.

I think that this camera and most aps-c mirror-less camera would prefer retro-focus lenses (long rear nodal point).

Well, it seems as if the M9, NEX 5n/C3, GXR/A12 and probably also the NX200 do a decent job here.

The NEX 7 and X-Pro1 are on the other side. The NEX 3/5 are somewhere in between it seems.

Will this affect the sale of X-pro1 significantly? If X-pro1 can use only Fuji lenses and quite a limit number of other brand lenses, then many people would hesitate to buy the camera, I think (given its rather high price).

However, it is still not quite clear how bad the situation is. For example, how will modern Zeiss WA lenses perform on X-pro1? How will Nikon and Canon WA lenses perform on X-pro1 (suppose converters exist)?

I reckon that converted SLR lenses will perform fine.

I'm not so sure about native WAs though. The images from the XF 18mm f/2 that we've seen so far were rather poor IMHO.

It seems that Biogon (and the Elmarit) will make the Nex 7 and the X-Pro1 suffer <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />...

The X-Pro1 has no AA filter (or IOW cancelled AA filter)... The usual suspects are the microlens design and the new color filter array I guess.

By the way, is the Fuji 18mm a symmetrical lens?

It is not just only about the AA though. Even the Fuji has a cover glass on the sensor.

The 18mm doesn't have a symmetrical design.
