Cloning daughter's left foot
#1
On a recent gallery posting, there were a number of comments about some missing left foot.

Here is the gallery posting:

Below is the original:

And here is the cloned version as suggested by Brightcolors.

The point that BC made was:

"There are no detailed structures on any side of the image, so you should clone in the edges when you have straightened the image, if indeed the cropping got rid of some room under her foot. Then the image will look better."

I hadn't thought of that, and he was right. So, thanks!

To put things into perspective, however, the image was part of a slideshow that I did on our recent trip to Australia. I had to go through about 2000 shots, of which 1700 were from my wife's iPhone.

Those who have some interest in Melbourne and the State of Victoria, I invite you to have a look at the following link.

You will notice that some frames show only for a brief moment. They are supposed to show for 1.5 seconds. The slideshow looks OK on the PC, but for some reason something went wrong on YouTube.

Ah, below the foot..

I looked like crazy at her feet and saw no difference <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Alex, I didn't explain myself very well.

You need to first look at the post in the gallery:

Some foot is missing because I rotated the image to straighten the horizon. This meant that when I cropped the image some bits went missing. The horizon is actually already quite straight but you can see in the "original" version (above) that it is leaning to the left.

Now, with the suggestion from BC I cloned into some sand - about 2cm - below the foot. I then rotated and cropped to get the new version.

And it's good that you saw no difference. This means that cloning in things which have "no detailed structures" is a good idea when you need some extra canvas.
