They might have described it as random, but it isn't even close to random. It's just a fixed pattern that has less regular elements in it. I think it will get around the moire not by preventing it directly, as strictly they still need some kind of AA filter, but by essentially turning the moire into less regular noise pattern so it wont be noticed as much.
