Honestly, no. I haven't noticed the warning elsewhere, nor did my office notebook (heavily secured) give me any warning. Where did you read the warnings?

Not my sort of camera, but I'll "wait and see" before judgement.



Firstly, just what is a "1.5 inch" sensor? Is that the long side? The diagonal? Some other weird naming convention? For now I'll just assume it is "big", comparable to SLRs.



Assuming the lens has a constant maximum aperture of f/2.5 that should satisfy many.



As for the answer to mirrorless, that's overstating it a lot. It is certainly a new niche for Canon, but it doesn't preclude the possibility of something else in the mirrorless space.



As a bigger question, the one that remains unanswered to me is just who are buying mirrorless systems? Primarily, are they instead of or in addition to another system e.g. SLR. This camera might suit those going for something in addition, price and form factor allowing.

Most likely a 1/1.5" sensor, so not really big. Crop factor should be around 4.

I did wonder that, but there doesn't seem to be that size listed as existing (not to say there isn't one) and also, there was no "1/" prefixed and there are other inch sizes without such too.



In the case this is the case, a 4x CF would probably make this much less interesting to most, and even less of "an answer to mirrorless" some are claiming it as. It would be just another high end compact to join the many already there.

I received a warning from the US. I happen to bank with Wells Fargo over there. I'll see what else I can find out. Probably no more than Klaus already did.

I thought the press release said it was apsc size ??? So it is a rather large sensor - not clear (given the price) that having a fixed lens is the solution. I guess if it is f2.5 at the long end and is apo; it might be interesting.
