Samyang 14mm f2.8 type AE
#1
Can anyone who has actually tried this tell whether it is possible to control the aperture on a Samyang AE type lens from the front ring on the camera body? I thought this was the difference between the AE type and the standard lens. Am I mistaken?<img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

Hi, No I cannot tell you that but I have a samyang 8mm fisheye with a Pentax bayonnette and the aperture is controllable from the body (one small contact is visible on the mount) in Av mode with aperture ring set to A and therefore gives auto exposure in that mode! In the leaflet it also mentions that Nikon has a certain facility to do the same, other mounts have nothing, AFAIK. But obviously this applies to the 8mm, the 14mm may be different! PS. The 8mm is marked Fisheye CS.

...I hadn't previously realised that this lens is just slightly bigger (92x86 cf. 90x 83) and heavier (530g cf. 465g.) than Nikon 12-24 D

...which is irrelevant to most..!
