It's rated better than the Nikon 17-35 f/2.8 in every aspect and even the AFS 24-70 f/2.8 in some cases by other reviewers.
What happened here?
Why do you not retest this lens on a FF body like the D700 or D3S. It is an FF lens and the results primarily should interests FF users, but you test the wrong body! The D3X test is frankly not very useful today, unless you want it for a D800.

Sorry, no. Testing on 12 MP FX does not privide real value, since almost anything will look good on this sensor. The pixel density is lower than it was on the D70 (a 6 MP DX camera). Lenses that perform good on the D3x will be stellar on the D700 and D3, too. But good reviews on a D3 will not tell you much about the performance on a D3x or even D800.
Even if most Nikon FX users currently shoot with 12 MP, the D800 will change that soon IMO. In our local photo "club", all Nikon FX shooters except myself have (pre-)ordered a D800 by now.
We will, however, not start reviews on the D800. The D3x will continue to be our main and only FX testbed.

It is interesting to know this.

I am afraid that D800 will become much more popular than D3x soon.
Best wishes,
