The cameras should be very similar in design. If anything, the 1D should be less complicated.
As to the Mk IV, well, yes. but it does come at a price, especially as they aren't really available used. You can actually get a good Mk III for quite a bit less currently (less than half the price of a Mk IV), so maybe that is an option to consider? <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
