Not a bigger sensor but I think it's still quite interesting.

I guess its a fairly expected update to a more mainstream 24-90mm lens. I was personally hoping they would go the other way and make a 20-60mm lens (if its possible). Bit dissapointed really, don't think i'll be changing my LX3 just yet as I only really use it at 24mm! It also seems a bit bigger...

I wonder whether Panasonic managed to increase the IQ over that of the LX-3...

Kind regards, Wim

The sensor will probably be better in terms of ISO noise. The extended zoom range over the LX3 is nice, but IQ may suffer towards the extremes of the focal range.

The lens speed is somewhat slower so this may compensate for the more longer range.

is it not about the same at the same focal lengths? the old one was 24-60 f/2-2.8 new onw 24-90 f/2-3.3

I think so. If you do the calculations, and the aperture diameter resizing is more or less linear with FL, which is what one would expect under ideal circumstances, it looks like it still is F/2.8 at 60 mm.

Hmm, that seems to have been posted in error - the link is now broken. Also none of the major review sites features the LX5 in their news section.

The page has been pulled but the camera is real. You can watch it over at 43rumors.

Sure, I never doubted that the page was real. It was just that I was very surprised that none of the major review sites featured it and once the page was pulled it became clear to me, that it wasn't officially announced yet.

Owning a µFT camera I am not interested anyway.
