What about talking pictures rather than gear ?
#1
Hi folks,

Since I am back to photography and active once again here. I am noticing that galleries have very few visits, and we are discussing a lot about gear, however we are not going to the true thing: taking the pictures.

What do you suggest we do to get more interest in the pictures themselves: parties: we choose a theme we upload pictues, assignments: we select a theme for the week, we shoot pictures in the theme/ style, like high keye, minimalism, leading lines HDR, selective focus, etc.....  ,  we can do also photo discussion, etc

I will be following whatever the community here  decides.

At first, Photozone IS about gear = lenses. There are enough other forums about content. At second, the galleries here are a joke these days - you can open one on Flickr or wherever and will see more functionality. But those galleries make money and PZ's are free. So I'm not asking for more. Also, I will discuss pictures with people I know - doing that in the net is just not my cup of tea, sorry.

Best if you have your own site or post on a site to leave the link on the bottom of your post!

Like so!

I have no site but I have a large cache of photos uploaded to the social networks. I can share them here (or anywhere for that regard). Any specific recommendations on what to post?

After all we get gear for taking pictures, I don't need any more gear at the monent. I know I need to improve my own skills, that's why I consider  discussing pictures important.

We do have galleries here where you can upload pictures, those galleries aren't having enough vistis unfortunately but we can change things hopefully.

in the past we used to have plenty of photo discussion threads, not anymore unfortunately

Could you give us one or a couple of links to these discussions, so that we see what kind of discussion you meant?

#9
Those don't exist anymore, they went poof with the last major site forum design change.

I think you already have started the discussion regarding photo technique in this thread: http://forum.photozone.de/index.php?/topic/4276-tips-and-advice-retaking-the-same-picture-after-11-years/

I find it interesting too. Maybe people would like to offer some some critque of my snowy mountain shot in this thread: http://forum.photozone.de/index.php?/topic/4283-skiing-in-bohinj-slovenia/
